Although we are at the official halfway point of Queen B Reads Prophet Song by Paul Lynch, I feel our adventures with Eilish Stack are just getting started. There is a sense of urgency I carry with me through every page of this read which I credit to Lynch’s brilliant writing paired with the sickeningly realistic patterns I see reflected in current events around the globe. I cannot wait to dig into the next two chapters with you all this week.
Today, we’re reflecting on chapters two and three of the novel. Larry Stack has been arrested, and Eilish has no recourse to contact him or challenge his detainment. As civil unrest continues to brew in response to the government’s extreme actions, though, Eilish continues to toe the line of righteous resistance and safe compliance. But in a world where the rules keep changing on her, how can she guarantee the security of her family? When will she know they’ve all crossed a point of no return to normalcy?
